Global Warming By Winnie Trillium Learning Global 21st Century Schools Project Robert Fulton School, North Bergen, New Jersey, USA Diana Madrid, Nancy Baucke, Sharon Parsons

About  Global warming is when the earth heats up. It happens when greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, water vapor, nitrous oxide, and methane. They trap heat and light from the sun in the earth’s atmosphere, which increases the temperature. This hurts many people, animals, and plants. Many things could not survive this, so they decay.

The Greenhouse Effect  The greenhouse effect is when the temperature rises, because the sun’s heat and light is trapped in the earth’s atmosphere. For example, it is like heat trapped in a car. When the car is the parking lot on a very hot day, it gets hotter. This is because the heat and light from the sun can get into the car, by going through the windows, but it cannot come back out.

Effects of Global Warming  Global warming effects many parts of the world. It can make the seas rise which can cover low land islands which is a very big problem. The water of the sea covers the plants and causes some of them to die. Animals will die if there are not enough plants to eat so will humans because they don’t have animal food and plant food. This is known as the break of the food chain.

How to Prevent Global Warming  Don't let heat escape from your house over a long period.  Cover your pots while cooking.  Take a shower instead of a bath and useless hot water.  Use the three Rs which are Recycle, reuse, and reduce.  Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible.

A Little Extra  Mother Nature provides so many things that we have right now. We can’t just wait for someone else to make a law to save Earth. You can save Earth right now! Use less energy, recycle, and try not to waste. Earth is out home so we must save it from falling into global warming!
