19 Four Basic Guidelines for Developing Good Affirmations:
Should be stated in the present tense. Start with words like "I am ...  " or "I have ... ". Should relate that what you want is already accomplished. "I am happy now" is superior to and will work better than "I am becoming happy" or "I will be happy".      Should be positive. " I feel safe" works but the affirmation " I am not scared" does the opposite of what you want.  It focuses your mind on the word "scared" and increases that feeling. Should be in your style of language. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Company. All rights reserved.

20 Living Your Affirmation
1. Repeat your affirmation: Remind yourself often about the personal qualities you choose to strengthen. Dispute you Inner Circle: Recall a specific event in your past when you displayed a quality in your affirmation. 2. Align your words and deeds: At each point, be what you affirm… make choices that are consistent with your desired qualities. 3. Copyright © Houghton Mifflin Company. All rights reserved.
