Present There are currently 36.5 million Americans living in poverty. That’s about 1 in 8 of people Poverty is making kids go hungry Kids are not receiving their education People’s health are deteriorating

Poverty Is Making Kids Go Hungry Just in America, 50.2 million people go hungry 17.2 of those people are children These people don’t receive enough food to maintain a healthy lifestyle

Kids Are Not Receiving Their Education Almost 70 million children are prevented from going to school each day There was a delay in plans to provide a free primary school education to 8.3 million children in Kenya because of the global economic crisis Reasons for this might be that kids are taking care of their siblings or other family members, they might be too sick, or they go to work instead to take care of their family

People’s Health Are Deteriorating Because of people not having the proper food to eat or living in bad conditions, their health deteriorates Also, poverty can cause anxiety disorders It was shown that anxiety disorders are mostly present when people have been going through economic struggles since their early ages The structure of a child’s brain can be affected from ages 6-9 if the mother is going through anxiety during her pregnancy

Past In 2010 the poverty rate was 49 million and last year it increased to 49.7 million In the past, poverty has affected people by: Affecting children’s health People not receiving proper health care People not receiving basic needs like water

Children's’ Health 1.6 million children in the UK live in extreme poverty In poor nations, 20% of children die before the age of 5 50% of children are malnourished In richer nations, less than 5% of children are malnourished

People Don’t Receive Proper Health Care A lot of homeless people died because they didn’t receive proper attention when they were sick In 2011, 7.6 million people didn’t have health care Poverty rate increased in the US after a lot of people had to make out of pocket costs for their health care

People Don’t Receive Basic Needs Like Water Approximately 2 million people die each year because of drinking unsafe water Most of these people are children Some people resort to rivers contaminated with excrement

Future To decrease the poverty rate: There should be clean water for everyone to drink More people should qualify for health insurance Everyone should have a chance to receive an education

Clean Water To Drink Doing this can cause less deaths in the world You can donate money to provide clean water for people who need it 70% of diseases in developing countries are caused by polluted water

Health Insurance More people qualifying for health insurance can also avoid deaths and a lot of more people could be healthy In most states, adults without children do not qualify for Medicaid no matter how low their income is The income limit for Medicaid coverage in a typical state is about 11,000 for a family of three

Education There are a lot of people who want to go to school but can’t Almost 70 million children are prevented from going to school each day across the world

Conclusion For the longest time, poverty has been a problem in our world The poverty rate has always increased and decreased but its always been a high number There are ways that we can decrease the rate of poverty, we just have to know what they are and do them
