Aims to improve the quality and safety of healthcare for individuals and communities through an ICT research program focused on applied outcomes and active adoption by the health system Multi-disciplinary team of over 40, including world-renowned researchers, software engineers and PhD students Research focus: Biomedical Imaging Health Data and Smart Methods

3 CSIRO ICT Centre http://aehrc.com/ Tools for a Health Information Environment HDI Software tool to link patient databases Snapper Mapping tool for integrating linked data semantically Cancer Stage Interpretation System Computation staging of cancer from pathology and radiology reports Patient timeline Display and analysis of summary of integrated patient data  Tools engineered in a service based architecture for inclusion where appropriate in clinical workflow

4 CSIRO ICT Centre http://aehrc.com/ Use of SNOMED CT within HIE Ability to extend SNOMED CT to cover local data: New concepts can be added to cover data terms which are not in SNOMED CT Post-co-ordinated expression can be added to cover new combinations EHRC Tools for creating local extensions: SNOMED mapping tool – for mapping data to SNOMED CT and creating concepts and expressions snorocket – for classifying the extended ontology Ontology server – a URI based interface for accessing the extended ontology
