1 A student’s guide to searching EBSCOhost E-Journal Services Bill Mortimer – Academic Liaison Librarian for Sports and PE bill.mortimer@beds.ac.uk

2 Go to the Library Catalogue http://library.beds.ac.uk. Click on Digital Libraryhttp://library.beds.ac.uk

3 dddd Go to Databases for my subject and choose Sport and Exercise Science. Click Go!

4 On the list of Full Text Databases choose EBSCOhost Electronic Journal Service

5 Now select the top link from the database page on the catalogue. The EBSCO E-Journal databases is a collection of e-journals covering subjects taught at UoB

6 Use keywords in the search fields that are relevant to your assignment e.g. sports, “stress fractures”, spondylolysis, “pars interarticularis” Tip: Click “Linked Full Text” to insure full text results

7 Use quotation marks around phrases such as “stress fractures”. Click Search when you are happy with your combination of keywords

8 Decide which articles from your search results might be useful for your assignment. You may need to repeat the search a number of times with modified keywords

9 Click on the title of a relevant article

10 Read the Abstract to make sure the content and level of the article meets your needs. Click on the PDF to read the whole of the article
