5 More Staggering Statistics Female dropouts will live an average of 10.5 few years than females who graduate. For males it is 13 fewer years! Dropouts are 63% more likely to be incarcerated (go to jail) Dropouts earn 33 cents for every dollar a college graduate earns!

6 Why College, Career, Citizenship Readiness? In 1970, on 28% of jobs required postsecondary education By 2015, 67% of jobs will required postsecondary education In 1970, 74% of the middle class was high school graduates and dropouts In 2007, on 23% of the middle class was high school graduates, and only 8% were dropouts In the same period, the percent of middle class Americans with college degrees increased from 26% to 69%

7 This means it is more important than ever to… Regularly attend school Earn the highest GPA possible Earn a diploma Set and achieve a postsecondary goal: – 4 year university – 2 year college – Technical College – Military – Apprenticeship program

9 To Be a Good Citizen What is your responsibility to yourself and to others? To be a good citizen, it's important to be able to put yourself in other people's shoes and see the big picture. If everything you see is rooted in your own identity, that becomes difficult or impossible. -Eli Pariser

13 Cell Phone/PED policy Cell Phone/PED use during class -1 st – Item confiscated, given to Admin., and then released to the student at the end of the NEXT school day. -2 nd – Item confiscated, given to Admin., and then released to the student after one week. -3 rd – Item confiscated, given to Admin., and then released to parent/ guardian after one week. Parent Conference

14 Attendance/Tardies If you are absent you have 24 hours to bring a note or have a parent/guardian call. Be to class on time so that you are not tardy. Its easier to do the work as it comes rather than make it up, come to school. With a prearranged absence you should contact the main office.

15 Attendance/Tardies If you miss school…make up the work.
