2 The Chinese New Year celebration lasts 15 days. 15

3 The 15 th day of the New Year is celebrated with a Lantern Festival.

4 People buy or make lots and lots of beautiful lanterns.

5 Families who celebrate Chinese New Year get together.

6 Families think about their ancestors, the family members who came before them.

7 During Chinese New Year, the people eat LOTS of food!

8 People decorate their homes with oranges, candy, and flowers.

9 Plants and flowers are important because they represent new growth. Homes with blooming flowers are considered lucky.

10 You are not allowed to clean on New Year’s Day so your home must be cleaned before then.

11 Red is considered a bright, happy color that will bring a bright future to the person who wears it.

12 All over the world there are Chinese New Year parades.

13 Let’s celebrate Chinese New Year!
