3 The International Baccalaureate was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968 as a non-profit educational foundation.

4 History Our three programs for students aged 3 to 19 help develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world. There are more than 708,000 IB students at 2,607 schools in 134 countries.

5 Three Programs The Primary Years The Middle Years The Diploma

6 The Primary Years for pupils aged 3 to 12 focuses on the development of the whole child in the classroom and in the world outside.

7 The Middle Years for pupils aged 11 to 16 provides a framework of academic challenge and life skills, achieved through embracing and transcending traditional school subjects.

8 The Diploma for students aged 16 to 19 is a demanding two-year curriculum leading to final examinations and a qualification that is welcomed by leading universities around the world.

9 International Baccalaureate This type of schooling is for students that excel in their academics.

10 Magnet Schools

11 Magnet In Education in the United States, magnet schools are public schools with specialized courses or curricula

12 History The history of magnet schools is tied to the 1960’s protest over school desegregation and the educational reform model of public school choice as a way to address educational inequity.

13 Goals To promote goals of desegregation, equity, excellence, and the expansion and improvement of magnet schools; To encourage America's businesses to become actively involved in magnet schools and to support them both conceptually and financially; To encourage the federal government to finance magnet schools as entitlement programs rather than as competitive grants, and to increase the amount of this support;

14 Goals To encourage the passage of legislation at both the state and national levels that will promote the development and improvement of magnet schools; To provide parents and community members information on the benefits of magnet schools as schools of choice; To act as a National Clearinghouse for information dissemination on magnet schools and promote legislative advocacy for magnet schools and programs.

15 Vocational Schools

16 Vocational/Technical Providing vocational education, is a school in which students are taught the skills needed to perform a particular job.

17 Traditionally, vocational schools have not existed to further education in the sense of liberal arts, but rather to teach only job-specific skills, and as such have been better considered to be institutions devoted to training, not education
