9 9 Quotes from Survey What one improvement should be made for next year: –Board needs to discuss “A” vs. “B” concept….all players should get to play some of every game –Unfair treatment given to son of assistant coach…had a negative effect.. –Bigger gym –I would like to suggest a minimum playing time for A team players –Keep grades together as a team –More on skills practice –Better communication with parents –More games –Nothing –We were happy with the program –The coaches should decide what is best for the team, not a few certain girls –Make the boys share the ball with all the players

10 10 The performance of the coaches was seen as positive by the parents. Always Displayed Never Displayed 6.6% 6.7%16.7% 12 34 56 70% Positive Attitude 73.3% 13.3%6.7% Fairness with playing time Good understanding of the game 60% 16.7% 10% 6.7% Of the 3 coaching attributes measured, fairness with playing time attributed the most to enhancing a child’s overall experienced followed by a positive attitude then a good understanding of the game. Q4.) Did the coach display? 3.3%

11 11 Most parents felt their child’s team improved during the season and that the number of games played was about right 83% of parents felt their child’s team improved during the year The number of games played: –73.3% of parents felt the number of games was about right –23.3% felt too few games were played –3.3% felt too many games were played Q5.) Did the team improve during the year? Q6.) Was the number of games: about right, to many, to few?

12 12 Conclusions Based on the “overall experience” rating of this year’s participants, the current basketball program structure appears to be working and in alignment with the athletic board’s mission. Comparison of “attribute” importance and how the program measured against them shows improvement is needed in just about all areas. Of all the program “attributes” measured, being “competitive” was the least important attribute to the parents AND was 1 of the 2 attributes the program met expectations. Of the 3 coaching attributes measured, fairness with playing time attributed the most to a child’s overall positive experience. The basketball program is not “broken” but needs improvement!
