2 Where We Stand Year to Date Crime Statistics (January 1st through August 1st, 2009) Part One Crime continues to decrease -9.3 percent over same period in 2008 Rape, Robbery, Burglary, Larceny, Auto Theft continue to decrease Shooting Incidents have decreased by 15.1 percent Shooting Victims have decreased by 25.7 percent

While violence reduction efforts have reduced the number of shooting incidents and shooting victims, Aggravated Assaults and Murders continue to be a challenge While violence reduction efforts have reduced the number of shooting incidents and shooting victims, Aggravated Assaults and Murders continue to be a challenge –From January 1 st through August 1, 2009 Aggravated Assaults increased by 9.3 percent –Of the Aggravated Assaults, 32 percent, or almost one third, were domestic related, up 10 percent over 2008 –During the same time period in 2008, 22 percent of all Aggravated Assaults were domestic related –Murders are at 20 year to date, up from 18 during the same period in 2008
