These are called Stakeholders Task; 1.You are going to consider the impact of the primary school on one group of people. 2.You need to plan a speech to explain your feelings on the new development. 3.Do you think that it is a good idea or a bad idea. 9 Planning in the City There is a major housing shortage in the UK. The government needs to build 240,000 homes per year for the population. Task For each of the different areas; 1)Why would this area be good to build on? 2)Why would this area be bad to build on. 3)Remember to explain your answers Key Word definition Greenfield sites An area of green space (countryside) that has not been built on Brownfield An area of abandoned land that is no longer used Key phrases The best place to build is I think this because People such as…..will be affected The worst place to build on Overall

12 Applying your new knowledge 1.Study the following map 2.Choose one area to build an additional 1000 homes 3.Suggest who would approve of the development and who would not approve of the development Site A is in an out of town location It is bordering woodland which would have to be cut down There are farms and scattered houses around The roads surrounding are narrow Site B is on the edge of a town There are a series of larger B roads connecting it It will be built on greenfield It is next to a historic market town Extension; Would you suggest any where else? Explain your answer
