2 Exam Question Task You have 30 minutes to complete the following test. Good luck

3 Peer assessment Question 1; High levels of rain in April, May and June Low levels of rainfall in other months Could be described as seasonal Student should include at least 1 figure (Credit 1 mark per valid point) River flows from East to West of Kenya The mouth of the River is in the Indian Ocean It passes through Nayeri and Garissa It flows North of Nairobi (1 marks per valid point) Deposition When a river slows down, the load it is carrying is set down on the bottom or the river bed

4 Flood Plain 1)It is flat and so easy for machinery to be used 2)There is a good supply of water 3)The flood plain is very fertile so good growing (1 marks for each correct answer) a.Slip off slop b.River Cliff River erodes through 4 different methods; Hydraulic action, solution, Abrasion and attrition River Transports by; Solution, saltation, traction and suspension (Credit 1 mark for each correct answer / key word)

5 Explain question – 1 mark for each point – second mark for explanation 1)Less water in the channel this means that there will be less erosion and transportation = smaller delta formed 2)Large amounts of river pollution. This means that animals and fish may die Less reliable water means that people will have to walk further to get their water. This reduces their quality of life as they have less free time Less reliable water means that people will not be able to water their crops. This means that they will die and they will make less money. This will reduce their quality of life (and SOL) Less reliable water means that cattle will end up dying. This means that they will have a lower standard of life which will also affect their quality of life Level 1 Description only (1 mark) Level 2 Simple explanation (2/3 marks) Level 3 Detailed explanation that is consistent with the evidence provided about the project (4/5 marks)

6 Case study Level 1: Gives basic, generic descriptive and / or explanation points. Communication is fairly clear and information is communicated by brief statements. There is some accuracy of spelling. (1/2 marks) Level 2: Appropriate case study named. Provides an account which includes some description and/or explanation. Communication is more articulate. Some specialist terms are used correctly. There is clear accuracy of spelling, punctuation and grammar. (3/4 marks) Level 3: Appropriate case study applied well. Provides a balanced account which includes elaborated description and explanation. Communication is logical and has structure. Some specialist terms are used with proficiency. Spelling, punctuation and grammar have considerable accuracy. (5/6 marks) Level 4: Appropriate choice of case study applied very well. Provides a sophisticated account which includes and wholly accurate description and explanation. Communication is sophisticated and includes regular use of specialist terms with proficiency. Spelling, punctuation and grammar have almost faultless accuracy. (7/8 marks)
