Report of Pushchino 1 Team A.Komarov, A.Mikhailov, S.Bykhovets Institute of Physicochemical and Biological Problems in Soil Science of Russian Academy of Sciences 2005 INTAS 01-0633 SILVICS

Topics Developing software for a new version of ROMUL model Incorporation of a new experimental data into the models Applications of the EFIMOD model for evaluation of carbon balance at different external impacts^ nitrogen deposition, climate change windfalls forests fires, Application the EFIMOD model for different silvicultural scenarios for Russky les and Chukhloma case studies

Elaboration of a new ROMUL version The kinetic coefficients of litter and SOM mineralisation were re-calculated using exact solution of the differential equations of the ROMUL model and interpolation Bleasdale function (S.Bykhovets, A. Komarov and M.A. Nadporozhskaya) This allowed to specify the mineralisation rate in two sub horizons of forest floor (F and H) and a peat A structure and test program of a new version of ROMUL model was compiled and preliminary tested

New version of ROMUL (Oleg) New version of ROMUL (Oleg)

Carbon in trees at different silvicultural scenarios

Carbon balance in forest-soil system I – main carbon flows in the ecosystem: 1 – NPP; 2 – СО2 emission; 3 – harvested carbon; 4 – burning of cutting residuals. II – Carbon balance.

Carbon dynamics in trees at different levels of nitrogen deposition

Carbon dynamics in soil at different levels of nitrogen deposition

Carbon balance in forest-soil system at different levels of nitrogen deposition

Climate change. Comparison of stable climate and HadCM3 forecast (Moscow region)

Difference in carbon dynamics at warming and stable climate Left – nitrogen deposition 6kg/ha/year, Right – 12 kg/ha/year. Top – trees, bottom - soil

Carbon balance for 150 year at stable and changing climate I – 6 kg/ha/year, II – 12 kg/ha/year.

SOM dynamics in spruce forest in Vaccinium forest type at forest fires: left after 100 years repeating, right – after 50 years repeating

Soil recovering and CO2 emission at forest fires in pine forest in Myrtillus forest type with different type steps
