2 WMO OMM GCOS-WMO Workshop, Geneva, January 2011 Vision for Global Observing Systems in 2025 WMO-CGMS response to GCOS Satellite Supplement in 2006 : the space-based GOS does not address all ECVs –ERB, Ozone, GHG, aerosols, Global precipitation –Sea level and sea state, Ocean colour –Vegetation, Glaciers and ice sheets Recommended to redefine its scope to encompass climate one main objective, in addition to weather This triggered a review of the GOS: both space AND surface components
