5. Installing the Software Complete the download, then run it… Make sure to choose the correct version (32 bit or 64 bit)

6. Installing the Software Choose the default options Wait for install to complete (must have PPT and Excel closed)

7. Using the Software Start Excel (only works with Excel 2010) See the new menu… (feel happy about that).

8. Getting Started Click the “Esri Maps” menu and see the toolbar. Inserts a map on the current worksheet Sign in with your ArcGIS Online account to access functions Causes some trouble… working it out…

10. Problem Fixed: Don’t use Chrome  So it turns out that you can’t do the Esri ArcGIS free trial sign up using Google Chrome as a web browser. Too bad since that’s probably the best browser. Good news: if you create your temporary ArcGIS online account using Internet Explorer (including the confirmation email URL!) then it works and you can get your account created!
