2 Aim: What were the characteristics and accomplishments of the Sui, Tang and Song Dynasties (part 2)? Do Now: Based on the poems you read yesterday, what would you describe as some of the most important values and interests of the Chinese under the Tang and Song Dynasties?

3 I. Status of Women A. Footbinding: Custom for upper-class girls. When a girl was young, her feet were bound tightly with cloth, braking the arch and curling all but the big toe under. This custom continues into the 20 th century!
