3 Clothing a long dress with a high neck, tight waist and a full skirt a cotton petticoat and bloomers underneath striped stockings hard wearing boots a large bonnet to keep of the sun when the miners worked for long hours their clothes got worn out some people wore boots some wore shoes but most of them couldn’t afford to buy shoes or boots so they had to go barefoot

4 What was their job on the goldfields? many of the women cooked, cleaned, washed the clothes and they also did the ironing some women sang and danced on the goldfields. a few women were diggers and some were shopkeepers. a few women stayed home with their children while their husbands were at the diggings. women made bread, butter, jams, soaps and clothes for their family.

5 What did people eat on the goldfields? damper, bread dried meat, mutton bread, flour, water, eggs, beans they mostly ate damper, bread & flour

6 How was it like on the goldfields many people teased the chinese and the aboriginal because they were different a lot of the white people teased and threatened other people a lot of the parents couldn’t afford to buy things for their for their children, only the rich people could a lot of children on the goldfields got sick because they weren't wearing proper clothing

7 What kind of things did they use to get to the goldfields? mostly the poor people traveled by walking because they couldn’t afford to buy horses because they were very expensive the rich people could travel by horses and carriages some people came with donkeys and bullocks because they could carry lots of weight people from other countries came by ships because there was no other way to travel

8 What was it like to live at the goldfields? usually people used tents and huts covered by bark the mattresses that they used were stuffed with leaves the miners sat on logs around the camp fire and sang songs because there was no computer or TV's the chinese slept in tents but they slept faraway from the other cultures because there was a fence
