Dec 2008 => ICT has an important role to play in the achievement of these objectives

ICT in domiciliary care delivery and migrant care workers (recruitment / QoS) 3. Role of ICT for employability and social engagement of youth at risk 4. ICT for migrants community on IPTS research on ICT & Immigrants and Ethnic Minorities

8 IPTS workshop on ICTs for learning the host country language by adult migrants in the EU Seville 1-2 October Project: ICTs for learning the host country's language by adult migrants in the EU (Oct 2009-Feb 2010) Aim: to provide evidence and understanding of the use of ICTs in guided L2 learning by adult migrants in Europe, its benefits and possibly shortcomings and opportunities for future developments. Coverage: Two countries – the Netherlands and Sweden Research questions for the two selected countries: – Policy framework and the organisational context of L2 education of adult migrants? – ICT applications actually being used? – Drivers and barriers of ICTs use? – Which results are achieved by using ICTs what is their broader impact? – Which use is made of ICTs by the L2 courses' students to engage with life in their host community, before and during the courses? – Which are the opportunities for enhancing the contribution of ICTs? – Which policy measures would be needed?

9 IPTS workshop on ICTs for learning the host country language by adult migrants in the EU Seville 1-2 October Objectives of the workshop To discuss and get feedback from experts on: –Challenges of L2 learning by adult migrants –Current initiatives of L2 for migrant using ICTs –Opportunities offered by ICTs in the domain of L2 for migrant and their potential to address the challenges identified –Challenges faced by ICT initiatives –Policy implications –Further research needs
