2 There is help. There is hope. Mission Statement The Alzheimer Society of Alberta and Northwest Territories (ASANT) exists to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease through the development, support and coordination of local societies and chapters and to promote the search for a cure through the development, support and coordination of education and research. 3 There is help. There is hope. Initiatives In 2005/ 2006 Red Deer and Central Alberta had, for the first time ever, full time staff and our own office space. In this year we set up office (twice) improved data base, recruited volunteers, strengthened connections with our regional contacts, and most of all responded in a timely manner to all requests for information and support. We launched a few programs and brought increased awareness to others:  Early Stage Support Group  First Link referral program  Adult Children Support Group  Safely Home Program  Support Group Facilitator’s Training  Information Outreach- electronic mail-out of articles of interest and upcoming events  Learning Series

4 There is help. There is hope. Just when it appeared we would be undergoing a renovation, we were given the opportunity to move to a beautiful space just a few feet away from our first office!

5 CHAPTER COUNCIL  We are a positive, busy chapter responding to the need for information and support in the David Thompson and East Central Health Regions.  Chapter directors have become involved in activities such as fundraising, Safely Home, and special events by joining committees and/or working directly with staff.  Chapter council has made the transition from operational to governance and has been a model for change. Council is supportive, collaborative and actively takes the message out to the public and provides advice and directions to the provincial board ensuring local issues are taken into account in organizational decision making. There is help. There is hope.
