THE GENERATION PROJECT TIME FRAME

THE GENERATION PROJECT The proposal development – first steps 1.ATTENDANCE to POWER launch event (March 09. Hertogenbosch,NL) 2.ANALYSIS OF THE CALL & all documents related: POWER Handbook INTERREG IVC Programme Manual NO YES 3. PRE-CHECKING of project idea with the Regional Correspondent 4. PREPARATION of the proposal Does our idea FIT INTO the POWER priorities for the specific call??? Is my institution ELEGIBLE within POWER? Look for other opportunities in other EU programmes

THE GENERATION PROJECT The proposal development – main key points 1.Analyse and IDENTIFY the POWER priority in which our project best fits: decide in which theme & subtheme we will submit the proposal 2.UNDERSTAND EU & specific POWER Programme requirements and how to write the proposal (attending Programme seminars is key!!) 3.DEFINE the project idea and its main goals 4.DEVELOP a specific Work Plan which will help achieve foreseen project goals 5.BUILD a transnational partnership with the knowledge and experience needed to implement the project 6.WRITE the proposal & co-ordinate all partners efforts Proposal SUBMISSION

THE GENERATION PROJECT Definition of project idea – important decisions Do we want to be LEAD partners? How are we going to write the proposal? (IAT, distributed among partners) Will we need to organise a preparation meeting? How many partners & with which expertise do we need to involve? (we need public authorities to ensure POLICY IMPACT!!)

THE GENERATION PROJECT Building an ADEQUATE partnership 1)Use the EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: to be sent & published through contacts & Regional Correspondents, POWER website, relevant institutions in the field tackled, direct search. 2)ANALYSIS of partner profiles: oDo they have the technical expertise needed? (e.g. DIRECTLY involved in building energy audits) oDo they have experience in the management of EU projects (important to see previous projects and whether they have acted as LEAD partners)? oDo they meet the requirements of the proposed roles (researcher, component manager, policy makers)? oWhat are the specific requirements of the Programme? Regional bodies!! 3)GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE is important but not the unique aspect! BEST PARTNERSHIP MUST HAVE JUST THE PARTNERS NEEDED (and NOT MORE) to meet project goals!!

THE GENERATION PROJECT Proposal writing & submission (I) 1)Programme the work to be done: resources & time 2)GET USED to the procedure for submission of proposals 3)Send DRAFTS to partners to ask for their contributions 4)Ask and agree with partners specific roles and budget 5)Define the Management Structure that will enable project implementation POWER SECRETARIAT Steering Committee REGIONAL AUTHORITY TeC Communication Manager Act.4 Validation Act.5 Communication Activity Leader PoM Legacy Manager Act.6 Legacy Activity Leader IAT Lead Partner & Financial Manager Act.1 Management Act.3 Methodology Activity Leader Advisory Board AGH Scientific Manager Act.2 Analysis Activity Leader

THE GENERATION PROJECT Proposal writing & submission (II) 5)SELECTION CRITERIA KNOWN BY HEAD! (elegibility & quality criteria) 6)Every day contact with partners to prepare all documents...PROGRAMME TIME IN ADVANCE! GOOD PROPOSALS were not approved in the first call for not meeting elegibility criteria! COMMUNICATION aspects are key! PROGRAMME the time for administrative issues & translation ASK FOR REGIONAL SUPPORT (ALL PARTNERS): your project should also be a priority for the region!

ITACA Innovative Transport Approach in Cities and metropolitan Areas Eduardo López INTA October, 16th 2009

There is a lot of experiences and information about Sustainable Transport in Europe, but....

How to find the most suitable good practices for my particular case?

ITACA Project could help you !

What ITACA is? Identification of optimal management models for people mobility Survey of innovative technologies for Sustainable Mobility identify best practices and approaches to achieve an integrated urban renewal and local mobility management process Innovative Transport Approach in Cities and metropolitan Areas (ITACA) is a POWER Programme Project to… How?

Regione Emilia-Romagna – RER (Emilia Romagna Region, Italy). (LEADER) Stichting Brabantse Milieufederatie (Province of Brabant, TheNetherlands) Provincia di Rimini (Province of Rimini, Emilia- Romagna, Italy). Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial (INTA, Andalucía, Spain) Comune di Ferrara (Municipality of Ferrara, Emilia-Romagna, Italy). Diputación Provincial de Huelva (Andalucía, Spain) ITACA Partnership

Regione Emilia-Romagna RER Instituto Nacional de Técnica Aeroespacial Stichting Brabantse Milieufederatie Management

Activity Outputs and results Optimal management models for people mobility Innovative technologies (electric /fuel cell vehicles mixed fleets, RE charging points, hydrogen from RE, ITS,ICT, etc.) Definition of a comprehensive methodology and an assessment of the success/failure factors of the implemented measures to define "good practice" feasible in similar contexts to concerned. Handbook to help to policy and decision makers to choose the most suitable methodology and technical solutions for CO2 reduction: Definition of best available technologies in short-mid term for sustainable low-carbon transport

Proposal preparation INTAs experience Use the project ideas and partner searching area at the POWER web site ! Looking for common points among your idea and other proposals Define a clear objective, realistic and affordable taking into account your capacities and resources. Keep in mind the final goal of POWER Programme: CO2 reduction! Consortium composition well-balanced: representation of different sectors, no sleeping partners, choice of partners according to capabilities and experience

Proposal preparation INTAs experience Emphasize the innovative aspects of your proposal. Avoid duplication with other projects Include a Communication Plan to assure an adequate dissemination process. Identify target groups and define how these targets will be achieved Finally: Be patient and persevering: a good proposal need a lot of contributions and revisions !
