3 What purpose do announcements serve? O Inform! O Instruct! O Celebrate!

4 Announcement Expectations O Post an announcement daily (Mon – Fri) by 8:00 a.m. O Daily announcements should inform, instruct, and celebrate.

5 How do I instruct using announcements? O With a video (make or find) O With an example (text or graphic) O With text (explanation) O With a picture (relates to topic) O With an interactive (teaches or reviews)

6 How do I celebrate using announcements? O With an encouraging picture O Using their names (text, wordle, glitter text) O With “well-wishes” from you (voki, voice announcement) O Use their name in an example O Comic (bitstrip, toondoo)

7 The Basics… O Visually appealing (Color, images, font size 5 or higher) O Keep text to a reasonable amount O Include Hyperlinks to interactive sites (games, online quizzes) O Hyperlink with pictures O NO YouTube, NO O Links open in a new window

8 The Basics… O Embedding items O Make sure to view your announcement in different browsers (Internet Explorer, Firefox) after you submit O DO NOT copy and paste from Word! O Source your images

9 How do I source images correctly? Be sure that you are using images that you have permission to use. Be aware of the Terms of Use and follow any specific directions for citing. Don’t make the source too distracting Don’t actually link to the picture
