SCHOOL DATA I.E.S AVDA DE LOS TOREROS AVENIDA DE LOS TOREROS, 57 NUMBER OF TEACHERS: 63 NUMBER OF STUDENTS :620 (206 FOREIGNERS)
We start the Project on the 29 april Seven students from fourth grade 2.Ages: from 15 to 17 years old 3.We work in pairs 4.Books are selected from youth literature Simple editions Spanish authors
A NEW SCHOOL YEAR 2009/10 Two new students join the project: we are nine. We reviewed knowledge about computing. The work plan was explained to us: Digitization OCR techniques (edition) Organization of the books collection (digital library) We exchange information with other associated nodes. Management of the lists and blog.

THE LESSON STARTS TWO HOURS IN THE COMPUTER CLASSROOM 1.The teacher Pilar explains the task in English. Carolina makes everything clear. One more teacher helps us. 2. We digitize the books and correct them. 3. Then we split into two groups :One works with HTML, the other group works in the blog. 4. The lesson finishes with a report of everyone sending it to the DEAN list.
WE HAVE LEARNT INTERESTING THINGS We stress the most important We can use new tools in the computer:Block of notes, using PDF We improve the English skills writing reports on the activities developed in class. We are able to solve problems in the computer. We get more responsible about the task: we are part of a group.
ABOUT DEAN PROJECT WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED 1.Digitizing, correcting, editing books, using the blog and HTML. 2.Exchanging information with other member of the list. 3.Sending reports by to dean- 4.Searching information on different aspects of Greece and Turkey.
Two students manage the blog. We use the blog to show what we have learned. We also use it to upload interesting articles written by the classmates of both hight schools. The managers of the blog, Tatiana and me, review the stuff, accept and publish. The students read them, give their opinion and comment what is published.
Going to Greece Four students were selected to attend the Project´s meeting in Greece. The group gathered information about the country and worked on it. The group prepared the work to be presented. We enjoyed a lot and took pictures to show to our classmates.
WE WORK TWO HOURS A WEEK AND MORE… We put into practice what teachers have explained We help to each other. We note everything down on the notebook. We send a report at the end of the lesson. HOW HAVE WE LEARNED
AROUND DEAN PROJECT DIFFERENT ACTIVITIES CONECTED TO THE PROJECT 1.Readings about digitized books. 2.Visiting an important library in Madrid. 3.Watching a video about free software. 4.Gathering information about Greece and Turkey. 5.Preparing the meeting to Madrid and the videocalls.
The Project helped us to grow up. It made us to learn about computers. It is useful for our future. We know a new way of reading: e.books. We enjoyed.
A Digital Library We learnt that a digital library is a library where most part of the resoruces are digital: pdf, doc, etc… It´s Characteristics are: 1.Fast and efficient access. 2.Logical structure.
