2. Common Core =  National Curriculum adopted by most states (including NC) for English/Language Arts/Literacy & Math Essential Standards =  State Curriculum for all other content areas (including the Arts) that replaces the NC Standard Course of Study Common Core/Essential Standards

8. Placement Assessment Work Groups 4/18/12 The following representatives will be working on the 18 th to identify placement assessments that will help support the new course designations. They will also have an opportunity to “translate” the current pacing guides for level I courses into course guides that reflect the new essential standards.
