Company Motto/Structure: The Ferrari Family is a dealership that builds it’s pride on excellence in ordering, shipping and delivering the worlds best car: The Priceless Ferrari!!! All departments must work together to offer the best welcome our company can give to its family members. Each department is critical for the best shipment of our “Priceless Ferrari”. We work together as a family to provide the fastest and highest delivery quality.

Ferrari Family Ferrari Family is a dealership company with a large business in ordering, shipping and delivering Ferraris worldwide. The Ferrari Family Company has a shipping, receiving, sales, accounting and IT department. The IT department has developed in house software for the company’s specific needs. The software for the sales staff is called CarTech and The software tracking system for the shipping and receiving department, is called CarTrack

Departmental Roles: 1) Software Users / Sales Department 2) Sales Departmental Heads 3) Project Managers 5) Software Maintenance 4) Software Developers 6) QA (Quality Assurance, Software Testers)

Project’s Cancelled People! The user’s have been requesting functionality in the software to handle the Mexican currency for the past five years. The programmers started on the project two months ago with the estimated completion date only a month away. Two weeks ago, the company hired a new CEO. In looking over the past quarter’s sales numbers, the CEO didn’t notice any Mexican sales so he canceled the Mexican currency project. The current workaround for handling Mexican currency involves having someone in IT (usually from maintenance) manually modifying records

Where’s my car ? Several departments require the use of both the CarTech and CarTrack software. However, when one program is running and the other is opened, the first program seems to intermittently crash the computer. A customer called today asking why their car was shipped a day late. Looking into the problem, the software users noticed that the shipping date in both programs did not match up This software bug and the crashing problem were placed as a first priority in the maintenance queue

Would you make up your mind!*#*(#?!!! An IT project manager put the latest request, to have reports sorted by the country of sale, at the top of the priority queue. This was requested by the sales manager because it was urgent. The project was picked up and worked on for a week when the sales’ manager called saying they needed the reports sorted by the nationality of the buyer instead. This information is not stored in the database, so all of the entry screens needed to be changed as well as adding a new field to the table in the database. A few days later, the sales manager called saying that the customers they surveyed didn’t want to give their nationality so the sales manager wanted the reports sorted by the country of sale again The next day a shipping manager called up asking when the new screens containing the nationality of the buyer would go live

Do what I want PLEASE!!! The sales staff had an important software recommendation for CarTech which was not fixed in the latest version: When the software users are inputting customer information for Australian orders, they can’t save without closing the program. The workaround is to close the program in order to save the data and then reload the CarTech program every time they make changes but this is time consuming Yesterday, a user thought they were working with an American sale when it was an Australian one and they accidentally lost their changes to the shipping address.
