20 CONCLUSION Aquaculture is the fastest growing food producing sector in the world, with a sustained growth of 9% over the last 30 years Aquaculture services a growing global market Aquaculture is far from being a mature sector, with a diverse range of farmed species, and a large number of potential new species in the pipeline There is a diverse range of farming approaches available, ranging from Capital intensive, high value, high volume income earners to extensive, low value, low volume small scale / subsistence endeavors, targeting food security Aquaculture is providing a growing source of employment worldwide Regionally, there is little aquaculture development and competition There has been very little market exploration and development in the region WHY AQUACULTURE IN NAMIBIA?
