Supervisors are unaware about specific situation of children Communication between busdriver and children is problematic  Many shifts of drivers  Some of the drivers don’t speak Dutch Rules are inapproriate for children  No food – no drinks – no games

5 Recommendantions (1) Maximum duration of busride 2 hours Making bus together:  Rules too strongly from adult perspective  Rules too little account for specificity of group of children Train the supervisors  Structural imbedded training  Greater attention for how to deal with children (with disabilities) More supervision op larger buses

6 Recommendations (2) Improve communication parents – supervisors  Central contact at school  Central contact at bus company Provide a good range of schools for special education + put more effort in implementing inclusive education Provide special care for disadvantaged children
