Petroleum has been used for many years. The first recorded use in America was 1851 in Pennsylania that has been about 154 years ago. They used petroleum for lighting oil lamps an other sources of lighting.

The energy source is renewable because we can always get solar energy from the sun. In general humans have used solar energy from the beginning of time, but specifically we just started using it 100 years ago to heat water.

7.  Solar energy is used to heat houses.  Some cars use solar energy to be powered.  Solar panels can be attached on top of a building or house for electricity.  We use it to power calculators.  Some watches use solar energy.

9.  The solar panels are expensive.  Pollution can slow solar energy.  Solar panels only work if the sun is shining.  If you live in a rainy and cloudy climate your solar panels wont work.  Scientist have not yet discovered solar energy’s full potential.
