Poetry is flowers, gardens and birds Poetry is stories of queens and kings Lines and songs – so many things Curled in a corner where I can hide With poetry I can journey far and wide Though it’s only paper from end to end Poetry is a very special friend!

4 1. Match the definitions with the poetic styles:
Limerick A is a poem consisting of stanzas with five lines. Line1: A noun Line2: Two adjectives Line 3: Three -ing words Line 4: A phrase Line 5: Another word for the noun 2 Diamante B is a type of poem, usually a funny one. It has five lines. The last words of the first, second, and fifth lines rhyme with each other (A), and the last words of the third and fourth lines rhyme with each other (B). Here's an example: 3 Cinquain C is diamond-shaped poems with 7 lines. It does not have to rhyme but each line uses specific types of words like adjectives and –ing words. It can be about one topic or two opposite topics.
