The Rock Cycle Rocks are always changing, by that change can take thousands to millions of years. The rock cycle is a set of natural processes that form, change, break down and reform rocks

The Rock Cycle The rock cycle never ends it goes on continually
There are three types of rocks Igneous Rock when molten rock cools and becomes a solid. Igneous rock can form on the surface or at depths of the earth over time.

The Rock Cycle

The Rock Cycle Sedimentary rock forms when loose rock and other materials are carried by water and wind and then layered. Minerals can grow on this rock over time. Sedimentary rock can also form when water evaporates.

The Rock Cycle Metamorphic rock forms when heat and pressure cause older rock to change into new rocks. The heat and pressure can cause the rock and the minerals to change over time.

The Rock Cycle Most of earth’s crust is made up of igneous and metamorphic rock. 95% Sedimentary rock that forms in thin layers only make up 5% of the earth’s crust.
