5 Century Boys Basketball Our goal is to help develop our players into student-athletes who are successful both in the classroom and on the court. The program is defined by one in which young men not only learn the fundamental game of basketball, but also the values of life skills such as leadership, hard work, sportsmanship, discipline, teamwork, dedication, selflessness, persistence, and the belief that you can accomplish anything. In the basketball program at Century our philosophy is: Play Hard, Play Smart, and Play Together. We feel that these are three things that are always within our control every time we step into the gym. We are working on continuous improvement and getting every player to commit to giving his best effort for the good of the team. We do not talk to our players about wins and losses being the determining factor of how well they played or the success of our season. Instead, we ask…How hard and smart did you play? Did you play together as a team? Are you a role model both on & off the court. This is how we evaluate our performance. We feel that if we can keep our focus on this system of belief, success will follow in these areas.

6 Program Goals  Develop successful students who understand the value of an education  Develop important life values and character qualities.  Develop role models both on and off the court for younger students  Encourage participation  Develop basic basketball skills  Prepare advanced players for higher levels of competition  Increase student’s self-esteem through participation  Help players learn role acceptance through team membership  Promote values of sportsmanship in competition  Promote enthusiasm for the program  Work toward Big 9 and Section Championships as we commit to daily championship principles  Have fun!

7 Tryouts  We want players……  who are reliable and dependable.  who have a positive attitude.  who are willing to listen, learn, work hard and be coachable.  who are the best players (skills) regardless of age  who show a good work ethic, are self-starters, and always hustle.  who work hard during the off-season to get stronger and improve skills.  that are loyal to their teammates and coaching staff.  who put the team first.
