1. Thomasboro Grade School Mrs. Breymeyer

2. Mrs. Breymeyer has been teaching at Thomasboro for 25 years. She has taught the fourth grade class for the last several years. She has two boys of which were both in her fourth grade classroom. She loves making learning fun!

3. The students arrive in the classroom at 8:15 AM. They unpack their homework and supplies they need for the day and take their backpacks to their lockers. The students enjoy their own personal locker. They may bring items to hang in their locker from home with the teacher’s permission.

4. We will begin the year by learning all about the Scientific Method. Mrs. Breymeyer loves teaching Science and has lots of educational Science activities planned for the students this year.

5. The students will be learning several new concepts in Math this year. We are incorporating the new Common Core Math Standards into our old curriculum. I will let you know the concepts we are covering each week in the Parent Newsletter.

6. We are beginning a new writing curriculum this year. This curriculum is aligned with the Writing Common Core Standards. We will do narrative writing, opinion writing, and informative writing.

7. We will be using our reading books, picture books and short stories to help improve our reading strategies this year. We will once again set reading goals for each quarter. The students may reach this goal by reading their library book and taking a Reading Counts test for the book.

8. We will begin the year with a Map Unit in Social Studies. We have an Illinois textbook that we will use for the remainder of the year. We will learn all about Illinois history, government, economics, and landforms.

9. Your child will fill out an assignment book daily. This assignment book is to be signed each night. If your child does not complete an assignment. I will fill out a Homework Notification letting you know that the homework is not complete.

10. We have many rewards in our classroom this year. The students are working together in their groups to earn a trip to Mrs. Brey’s Prize Box. The students are following tracks to the Rainforest Café as they complete their homework. This earns them lunch with the teacher. The students may also earn Student of the Week.

11. The Students will need to complete two Illinois Projects a quarter. The students will choose their projects at the beginning of the quarter.

12. I will send home a parent newsletter each Friday. I will also e-mail you through Teacher Ease when your child has a Math, Science, or Social Studies Test. I usually enter the grades for the week in Teacher Ease each weekend.
