5 Shuttle Service  Shuttle reservations have been made for teams leaving tomorrow (based on flight times)  Check the shuttle assignment poster by the registration desk for your shuttle time 3:30 pm – pick up at AAP (bring your luggage to the Learning Session tomorrow) 3:45 pm – pick up at Sheraton (check luggage at hotel) 4:15 pm – pick up at Sheraton (check luggage at hotel)  Per AAP policy, If you change your flight time, you will be responsible for the cost.

7 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™  The AAP designates this Live activity for a maximum of 11.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  The AAP designates this Performance Improvement CME activity for a maximum of 20.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.  Two Separate Certificates of Attendance One certificate for live learning One certificate for PI  Separate certificates for physicians and allied health professionals

8 Learning Session Credit (CME) (11.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™) Eligibility  You are a physician or an allied health professional  You attend the full Learning Session Claiming Credit  If you are a physician or are subscribed to AAP’s PediaLink®, you can claim credit approximately 21 business days after the Learning Session by using the instructions found in the “Recording CME Credit” document.  If you are a nurse, social worker, or other allied health professional, you will need to send the CME certificate of attendance to your professional association to approve/award the credits.

9 Performance Improvement Credit (CME) (20 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™) What is it?  Structured, long-term processes by which a physician or group of physicians can learn about specific performance measures, retrospectively assess their practice, apply these prospectively over a useful interval, and re-evaluate their performance. Eligibility  You are a physician or an allied health professional  You complete a baseline chart review and pre-inventory  You attend the live Learning Session January 21 & 22, 2011  You send in your monthly chart review forms  You submit your Monthly Progress Report  You review your applicable run charts for the month  You participate on the monthly calls to discuss your data

10 Performance Improvement (PI) Credit Claiming Credit  After participation on your first monthly call, where you reflect on your data for the month, you have completed 1 full data cycle, making you eligible for performance improvement credit. (Once you participate, AAP staff will notify CME staff of your completion)  If you are a physician or are subscribed to AAP’s PediaLink®, you can claim credit by using the instructions found in the “Recording CME Credit” document.  If you are a nurse, social worker, or other allied health professional, you will need to send the CME certificate of attendance to your professional association to approve/award the credits.  AAP staff will email the listserv when this credit is ready to be claimed

12 American Board of Pediatrics Maintenance of Certification Part 4  The Preventive Services Improvement Project has been approved to meet ABP MOC Part 4 requirements.

13 ABP Maintenance of Certification Part 4 Credit What is it?  Part 4 (Performance in Practice) of MOC requires pediatricians to:  Demonstrate competence in systematic measurement and improvement in patient care.  Participate in established Quality Improvement Projects – (ie structured QI projects that involve physician teams collaborating across practice sites and/or institutions to implement strategies carefully designed to improve care.  Overseen by the American Board of Pediatrics

14 Eligibility  Lead the implementation of the Preventive Services Improvement Project core changes for 10 months.  Attend at least 6 meetings, including at least 1 Learning Session, at which Collaborative data are reviewed and plans for new improvement activities are made (for non- core improvement team physicians, can include local team meetings or monthly conference calls)  Collect and submit data monthly on a subset of patients as defined by the project (at least ten 9 month charts and ten 24 month charts)  Review monthly feedback reports (run charts)  You meet the ABP Minimum Standards for this project (see attached Q&A for more details) ABP Maintenance of Certification Part 4 Credit

15 Claiming Credit  Lead physician send Jill Healy names of all participating physicians in your practice by January 31, 2011  Complete and sign your Attestation Form (instructions included in your binder) at end of project – return to Jill Healy  Lead physician “attest” for any participating physician in your practice (sign off on their form)  Project leader (Paula Duncan) “attest” for any lead physicians (sign off on your form)  The information in the Attestation Form will be sent by AAP to the ABP  The ABP will update your ABP Portfolio at www.abp.org indicating that credit has been earned toward MOC.www.abp.org  Instructions will be sent near the end of the project.
