2 Open Door Policy If you have a query or concern then please let us know. At the end of the day we will be visible out on the playground. Any notes/ messages please write them in their home school diaries – please tell your child to show us. Make an appointment to see us. First port of call – your child’s class teacher.

3 Open days + Entrance Exams A letter will go out tomorrow with all the dates (that we know), please let us know which dates you will be attending. You do need to check if you need to make an appointment. Please let us know when you will be sitting them – so we can authorise the exam session.

4 Applying for secondary Schools You need to apply online. If you applied for your place at Auriol online you must use the same password for your secondary schools. Deadline Thursday 22 nd October 2015. Submit and accept

5 Autumn Term WW2 – History – DT making Anderson Shelters – Electricity – learning about the Morse Code. – WW2 tea party – To be confirmed– children to dress up. Grandparents/parents invited to join celebrations. School Trip – WW2 experience day – Hands on practical learning – real Anderson shelters, history clues. Sayers Croft. – 3 rd November – provisionally booked- approx. £15 – Have to be at school for 8:15 back 4pm.

7 Summer Term SATs Gallery Rebels – Different artists Blood Heart – Dissecting a pig’s heart – fundraising events - enterprise – healthy lifestyles Production Secondary Transition

8 Homework Homework is designed to consolidate or move learning on. It will get progressively harder. Maths – Set on a Wednesday and due in on Friday. Grammar/Punctuation– Set on a Friday and due in on a Monday. Reading – Every night for 15 minutes + comprehension set on a Thursday due in on a Wednesday. Spellings – Set on a Monday tested on a Friday. Topic – WW2 project – independent or group work.

9 Maths Teaching for Mastery for all – no setting/ scaffold learning for pupils needing support with a concept/ extension through questioning Textbooks – using the mastery teaching approach from Singapore, created specifically for children living in the UK. This approach will build on and promote the current Mathematics teaching in the school, which was highly commended by Ofsted. Maths Parent Workshop – 19 th Oct - 6:30pm -20 th Oct – 9:30am -22 nd Oct – 1:45pm Daily Counting All lessons include intelligent practice to develop mental agility in mathematics – in preparation for arithmetic work.

10 Spelling As Policy related to pattern being taught Combination of pattern words, end of Year expectation word and incorrect words

11 Assessment without Levels All year groups are now moving to new assessment system introduced last year. – Workshops 24 th September 2:15pm and 6:30pm SATs tests the bar has been raised. – Reading – GAPS – Maths – Science

12 Library – volunteers needed to work in library during the school day. Please contact Miss Dempster Uniform – no trainers including Vans or Nike air force 1

13 PE PE will be on a Tuesday afternoon. Please keep the PE kit in school Monday – Friday encase we have additional PE lessons. PE Kit - If children are not able to take part in PE a written letter from parents/guardian is required. Children who do not have their PE kit, will not be able take part in the lesson.

14 Locker Keys Please make sure they hand their phones to the class teacher to look after for the day. If not they will be kept in office and parents will have to collect them. Mobile phones Locker keys are to be kept in school.
