1 Learning Altogether Inner East Family of Schools Networked Learning Community

2 Networked Learning Community (NLC) is: An initiative run by The National College for School Leadership (NCSL) “to learn with, from and on behalf of each other” “As participants construct meaning and knowledge together, the professional culture becomes more coherent and focused on emerging shared purposes for teaching and learning. It becomes a community.” (NCSL)

3 Why? Working together to: Share common problems, strength in numbers + Share good practice, ideas and resources + Continue the good work started by our family = A positive impact on children and parent’s learning!

4 Our Aims are to: To increase parental involvement in their child’s education To develop parenting skills To offer learning opportunities for parents and professionals To improve children’s literacy skills especially in writing

Timeline Spring term 2005Summer term 2005 w/c 10 Jan NLC co-ordinators meet. ‘Steps’ training begins ( 1x professional + 1 x parent per school). w/c 17 tth & 25 tth Jan co-ordinators meet to plan information pack for delivery into own schools. Co-ordinators plan information about NLC to deliver to staff meetings. Timetable of delivery and colleague support planned. Order and purchase ‘Share ‘materials 10/01- 17/01- 24/01- 31/01- 14/01 21/01 28/01 4/02 14/02- 21/02- 28/02- 7/03- 14/03- 18/02 25/02 4/03 11/03 18/03 1 professional from each school undertakes ‘Share’ training ( x 2 days) ‘Transition’ parents groups in feeder primaries Launch events take place in each school. 14 Webster Stratton A 12 week course for parents emphasising playing with children. Helping to build relationships that may not be present.

16 STEPS Steps To Excellence For Personal Success. A 12 week self development programme to build confidence and develop self- esteem currently being run with one professional and one parent from most schools.

18 All_2gether_now All_2gether_now raises the profile of writing by using the BBC’s national website as a prompt and a showcase for children’s writing. Its aims are to Improve the quality of pupils writing and develop their written skills in different genres Develop children’s (and parent’s) ICT and design skills Develop oracy skills through questioning and interviewing Give children the opportunity to write about things that matter to them.
