2. Problem Definition With newer technology, multiple copies/instances of a protocol can exist in one device at the same time. We cannot add an extra index into the existing MIBs easily.

3. Solution Proposed Therefore, lets use SNMP contexts to distinguish each instance of the protocol.

4. Advantage No change to existing MIB architecture Snmpv3 already has context for each snmp query. Snmpv2/v1 can use mapping of community name to context. (from SNMP- COMMUNITY-MIB)

5. Applicability to Vpls MIB We can map the VplsConfigIndex to the dot1dBasePort for storing Mac Address in the BRIDGE-MIB.

6. TBD Mapping of PW as an Attachment Circuit in the BRIDGE-MIB.
