8. 8 Tasks: Establish and maintain the Safety Management System fulfilling Regulatory Requirements Maintain the Occurrence Reporting Database Monitoring corrective actions Support during Safety Assessments Safety Audits and Inspections Assist in Safety Investigations Liaison with Safety Regulators Liaison with management of Safety Issues Changes Safety Promotion Staffed by: Senior staff (Broad operational and technical knowledge) Training High level of training in Safety Management High level of training in Auditing & Safety Assessment While the SM may be held accountable for any deficiencies in the safety management system itself, the SM should not be accountable for the safety performance of the organization.
