3. I update my class website weekly. You can look here for a summary of all topics that we are currently working on in class. All important information will be on my page such as: spelling and vocabulary words, dates of quizzes/tests, rubrics and project due dates as well as concepts being taught in each subject.

4. Students will be tested weekly on spelling words and biweekly on vocabulary words. Math, Science and Social Studies tests will be given on a monthly basis after we complete each chapter. Tests will be sent home on Mondays in a blue “Tests” folder. Please sign the test and return to school on Tuesday as we keep all tests on file. I will always post test dates on the website at least a week in advance to help you better prepare a study schedule that works for you and your child!

5. October 7th-10th: IOWA TESTING Saturday, January 24: Reconciliation – Time- TBA Saturday, May 3: First Holy Communion @ 11:30 AM

6. Extra Help will be on Tuesday afternoons in my classroom from 2:50-3:30. We will work on reading and/or math depending on what is most necessary for the students. I will send a permission slip home with more information if I see that your child is struggling in a certain area. If you see that your child is struggling in a certain area and would like him/her to attend extra help, send me a note! Extra Help will begin next week on Tuesday, September 16 th !

7. You may send your child in with a goodie bag for the students to pass out with pencils, eraser, small toys, etc. Please do not send in any type of food due to allergies! SUMMER BIRTHDAYS: We will have a special celebration for students with summer birthdays during the last week of school.

8. I have set high expectations for myself and your child this year. To promote positive behavior in the classroom, we will have a behavior system based on your child’s smart choices. When I see that a student is doing exceptionally well, they will be rewarded with a Golden dollar. If a student misbehaves, they will lose a dollar. On Fridays, students can “shop.” If they have accumulated 10 Golden dollars, they can pick a prize out of the treasure chest.

9. Each week, we will have a new “star of the week.” This student will take our “class pet,” Bert home with them for the weekend. The student should write a journal entry including details of what they did with Bert. They should also include a picture with Bert. They will share their journal entry with the class after their weekend with Bert.

10. Please take a moment to read a letter that your child has written to you. The letter will be in the green writing folder on the top of their desk. Please respond to your child’s note. Your child will read your response tomorrow morning. I will also pass out a sheet for you to fill out with information about your child. Please place the completed sheet in the green bin as you leave the classroom.

11. Time For Kids Magazine: Please send $5 in for TFK magazine ASAP! We are a NUT & PEANUT free classroom. Please do not send your child in with snacks with nuts in them! Please sign the last page of the calendar and technology contract! Please send all food/lunch money in a labeled envelope.
