2 How Scientist Classify Plants
They classify plants by asking really important question

3 Questions 1 Does it have roots, a stem, and leaves?

4 Question # 2 Does it have tube-like structures inside it to help transport water?

5 Q#3 Does it produce cones or flowers?

6 Groups of Plants Based on these three questions we can classify plants in four main groups Mosses Hornworts Liverworts Ferns – which have relatives that include conifers and flowering plants

7 Mosses No true roots No true stems No true leaves
Depend on direct contact with water Thrive in moist places

8 Hornworts No true roots No true leaves
Depend on direct contact with water Live in moist places

9 Liverworts Similar characteristics as the other to but
Can be found on rocks and trees Thrive in moderate or deep shade

10 Ferns Have a vascular system with roots to help anchor the plant securely to the soil Main root with smaller roots to obtain water and nutrients

11 How Plants Reproduce How do plants reproduce to ensure the species of the plant continues? Take 2 minutes and discuss with your group?

12 All Living Things Reproduce
Plants reproduce 3 ways With Spores Seeds from cones Seeds from flowers

13 With Spores Ferns, moss and hornworts reproduce with spores
They look like soft fluff are scattered by the wind fall to the ground and sprout

14 Cones Conifers produce cones
Seeds are inside these cones and when the cone opens the seeds are scattered by the wind and animals
