2 Defining GLITS Trade Show - an event in which goods and services in a specific industry are exhibited and demonstrated Exposition - a public exhibition or show, as of artistic or industrial developments; a formal meeting of members, representatives, or delegates, as of a political party, fraternal society, profession, or industry Summit - A conference or meeting of high-level leaders, usually called to shape a program of action

3 History An event for the diversified manufacturing community Over twenty years ago it started as the Industrial Expo to showcase products to the community that were made in the region Has progressed into a premier trade show for companies to meet with prospective buyers and suppliers, as well as provides a bridge between the region’s workforce and industry seeking skilled workers

4 Save The Date October 12, 14 & 15, 2009 Show hours: Monday, October 12 'Educators Day': 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Wednesday, October 14: 11:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 15: 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Event admission: Free and open to the business, engineering and educational public.

5 Venue Information Bayfront Convention Center  located at 1 Sassafras Pier, Erie, Pa 16507 The BCC was just opened in the summer of 2007, as an exhibitor you will be provided with the newest facilities, advanced infrastructure and top-of-the-line service While attending or exhibiting the Great Lakes Industrial Technology Summit parking is free  if needed there is additional parking on State Street along the pier and west of the Convention Center at the Park and Ride.

Daggett President of the International Center for Leadership in Education Recognized worldwide for his proven ability to move education systems towards more rigorous and relevant skills and knowledge for all students No Child Left Behind Collaborated with education ministries in several countries and with the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the National Governors Association

9 Keynote Speaker Continued… Creator of the Application Model and Rigor/Relevance Framework  a practical planning and instructional tool for determining the relevance of curriculum and assessment to real-world situations author of eight books about learning and education, 12 textbooks and numerous research studies, reports, and journal articles

10 Job Fair The Great Lakes Industrial Technology Summit will use proceeds to fund engineering scholarships for locally bound college students The future of strengthening our industrial economy lies in a solid knowledge base of workers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics The Balmer scholarship, given in the junior year of a 4- year program goes to 5 students every year with a total of $100,000 awarded in the last 10 years
