Examples: –element IDs –capability information field bits –management action frame action codes –Spectrum management classes –Many others, one each per tab of the ANA database (spreadsheet)

3 doc.: IEEE 802.11-07/0789r0 Submission May 2007 Terry Cole, AMDSlide 3 ANA Mechanisms Database –ANA database is an Excel Spreadsheet made available as a contribution Administrator –Chair appoints the ANA who administers the ANA database Mechanism for requesting numbers Mechanism for adding a new resource

4 doc.: IEEE 802.11-07/0789r0 Submission May 2007 Terry Cole, AMDSlide 4 Requesting Allocation 1.Request is made –By an editor on behalf of a TG, by way of editors reflector, editors meetings, or telecons –By a TG or the WG, by way of a motion –Outside body such as 802.15.2 would make a request by asking the WG chair to sponsor the motion to request –Request may ask for a specific number Not necessarily be honored by the ANA

5 doc.: IEEE 802.11-07/0789r0 Submission May 2007 Terry Cole, AMDSlide 5 Request Allocation (Continued) 2.Conflicts are checked by ANA –Last item of any resource will never be assigned – always automatically designated escape bit/number –ANA is responsible for bringing exhaustion of any resource to the attention of the immediately following WG plenary session 3.Response will be made –Response to reqeuster and editors reflector –Indicating assigned number(s) –Sent to the editors reflector for inclusion in the next applicable draft(s)

6 doc.: IEEE 802.11-07/0789r0 Submission May 2007 Terry Cole, AMDSlide 6 Revoking Allocations Owner (recorded in ANA database) of an assigned number may request revocation –TG or WG by motion –TG Editor by email to editors reflector –Request made in same way as for assignment, but may only by the owner of the assigned number (or a higher level body which has authority for the owner).
