4 Sample Introduction John Hamm’s poem “The Ballad of Captain Super” tells the story of a superhero who doesn’t have any super powers. Cap watches over the town he has sworn to protect. The hero sees a crisis in the town and remembers what he must do to protect the citizens. When the Captain makes his move he painfully realizes he is unable to fly. Using a mix of metaphors and similes, “The Ballad of Captain Super” shows that what we think can outweigh our physical abilities.
