3 Collar pack # 1 Choice of the radial shim The purpose of this first collar pack was to assess the radial shim size HQ 15-16-17 and 20 coils are made with a revised (smaller) cable and are expected to have overall dimensions close to nominal. For the record, HQ 15 was tested in HQM04 Comparison between CMM measurements, nominal collar dimensions led to the adjustment of the radial shim from.036” to 0.032” The alignment key was not shimmed during this assembly. 02/22/2013H. 9 Status on HQ02 collar pack assembly Collar pack # 1 Consistency between CMM measurements radial shim choice, Fuji paper results, SG data and initial radial shim Uniform pressure distribution, could be slightly improved toward the midplane Collar pack # 2 we will keep the same radial shim or less: 2 layers of 0.005” Kapton wrapped around the collars 2 x 0.010” G10 shim => in reality closer to 0.0085-0.009” Stack expected ~ 0.027” The effective stack is 0.028” alignment keys shim: 0.021” per side in the straight section based on initial assumption 0.027” radial shim Collar pack assembled SG in compression, Collar dimensions and gaps measurements ongoing 02/22/2013H.
