2 What is a Dinoflagellate Dinoflagellates are microscopic, usually unicellular, flagellated often photosynthetic protists commonly known as algae. The dinoflagellates are a large group of flagellate protists. Most are marine plankton, but they are common in fresh water habitats as well. Their populations are distributed depending on temperature, salinity, or depth. 4 Facts : Dinoflagellates are single cells protits that have 2 flagella. Most dinoflagellatesare found near the surface of the ocean. Dinoflagellates are classified as Gonyaulaw. Dinoflagellates are also able to take in food. Dinoflagellates walls are mad up of celluose.

5 Harmful facts : D inoflagellates glow in the night and the name of the flagella that glows in the night is Noctiluca. Many dinoflagellates cause a red and a brown tide. W hen the ocean warms up it makes the flagella produce the red tide.
