2  ATTETION-DEFICIT/HYPERACTIVITY DISORDER  Is characterized by difficulties that interfere with effective task-oriented behavior in children.  OPPOSITIONAL DEFIANT DISORDER AND CONDUCT DISORDER  Involves a child’s or adolescent’s relationship to social norms and rules of conduct.  ANXIETY DISORDERS OF CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE  Children with anxiety disorder tend to be oversensitive, have unrealistic fears, are shy and timid, have pervasive feelings of inadequacy, sleep disturbance and fear school. 2

3  CHILDHOOD DEPRESSION  Includes behaviors such as withdrawal, crying, avoidance of eye contact, physical complaints, poor appetite, and even aggressive behavior and in some cases suicide.  AUTISM  Is a mental disorder that involves a wide range of problematic behaviors including deficits in language, perceptual and motor development; defective reality testing and inability function in social settings. 3

4  LEARNING DISABILITES  Refers to retardation, disorder, or delayed development, may be manifested in language, speech, mathematical or motor skills and it is not due to any reliably demonstrable physical or neurological  MENTAL RETARDATION  Is defined as significantly subversive age general intellectual functioning that is accompanied by significant limitations in adaptive functioning in certain skill areas such as self-care, work, health and safety 4
