10 Partner Rate & Review-5 mintues Divide your words between you and your partner and test each other on the vocabulary. If your partner doesn’t know the word read them the definition and meaningful sentence.

11 Build Background- 10 minutes Reading goal: Cause and Effect: What causes a car to stop? What causes a car to go through? What causes a car to slow down at a light? Use think-pair-share to think to find the causes to these effects Good readers are able to identify the cause and effect relationships in text. This makes what they are reading more meaningful.

For a week Aunt Franny was on crutches with a sprained ankle, and slinky had to sleep in the garage. What is the cause in the story(what causes Aunt Franny to fall?) What is the effect in the story (what happens to Aunt Franny?)
