Maps can distort shape, area, direction, and distance This problem is somewhat solved by different map projections

A small scale map shows a large area but without much detail. A small scale is used to see relative location in a region or between regions

23 What Is A Mental Map A mental map is a map in your mind. We all have mental maps but some are more refined than others. We all have a mental map of the world. Some people know more countries but we should all know basic things like where the continents are in relation to each other.

Go to the bathroom in school? Get around Newport News? Find countries such as Iraq, China, and Russia?

To carry out daily activities such as shopping and going to school or work. Give directions to other people. Understand world events.
