11 Angas Zinc Project: General mitigation Sound mounds (bunds) Use of natural topography as noise barrier Vegetation visual screens Enclosed sheds for plant Mufflers on machinery White noise generation on reversing sounds Day time only operation for some plant and machinery Day time truck delivery & despatch

12 Mine: Current design initiatives Twin underground vent rise fans. Selection of “low noise” volvo trucks. Deeper boxcut to contain vehicle noise. Use of “white noise” reversing indicators. Sound mounds around boxcut and roadways. Underground noise not an issue.

13 Mill Design The design of mill is heavily influenced by environmental considerations Final location still to be finalised, work in progress Natural lie of land will be used to help attenuate sound Mill forced out of pit, crusher to remain Buildings positioned to minimise noise transmission Engineering contract specifies noise performance criteria

22 Noise modelling: Bassett Acoustic New round of modelling underway using –current configuration of plant –based on noise provided by mill, selected trucks & underground suppliers –Still based on typical worst case scenario for winds

23 Standards and Targets Proposed allowable limits –48 dB(A) Day time (7.00 am- 10.00 pm) –40 dB(A) Night time (10.00 pm – 7.00 am) Outcome is to prevent public nuisance impacts from noise emanating from the operating site The monitoring points to be reviewed from time to time with the CCC The plant will be designed to better these targets
