 Slide: each “page” of a presentation is known as a slide  Objects: Slide are made up of objects; text, images, videos, charts, and sounds  Transition: the movement of slides from one to the next  Slide Design: The format that is applied to slides. Many background varieties with an abundance of colors and fonts for each one.  Animation: Making objects on the slide move

 Click the drop down menu from the New Slide option in the Home menu.

 These icons indicate the different types of objects that can be added

 Transitions are found under the Animations Menu  Sounds can be added  Speed adjusted  Apply to a few slides or all slides On the Animations Menu Ribbon, click the drop down menu for Transitions and see all the choices

 Slide designs are found under the Design Menu on the ribbon bar  Numerous designs are available for slide backgrounds.  Each design has various color schemes and fonts  Changing slide designs will alter your previously created slides

 Animations are fun...... But time consuming  To add animations to the objects on your slides, click Custom Animation found on the Animations Menu bar.  An extra column will appear to the right of your presentation

 Add an image object to the slide  Click on the image and then click on Custom Animation under the Animations Menu bar  Choose to add Entrance, Emphasis, Exit, and Motion Paths from the Add Effect drop down menu

Before assigning a project, give them a brief introduction to PowerPoint where they can learn along with your guidance

 Give them a limit of slides to include in the presentation  Designate what each slide will cover  Slide 1: Title and your animal  Slide 2: Show a picture of your animal and label it with its name  Slide 3: Insert 4 facts about this animal

 If the presentation is a class project, you decide upon the transitions and slide design prior to children creating the slides  If each student is creating their own presentation, introduce slide design, transitions, and animations after they’ve entered their content.

 Give them limits to the amount of time they have to select transitions or decide on slide designs.  If using animations, limit the times that animations can be used.
