On the plain colored sheet of paper make a name tent.  a. fold length-wise  b. print your name in LARGE BLOCK letters  c. on the back side list an interesting fact about you AND something you did this summer  4. Begin reading/annotating the syllabus while everyone is finishing up. WELCOME TO YOUR FIRST DAY OF HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH

2  Look at the card on your desk. What number are you?  Look at the same number on your syllabus  When I say, “Go” you will find other students in the class that have the same number and sit together  Take turns introducing yourselves to each other  In number groups, you will read over that specific number section on the syllabus and take notes on the important information. Become experts on your section! 8 I encourage healthy debate- but will not tolerate offensive and insensitive exchanges between you and your peers. I am legally required to report worrisome information that I receive from YOU- if you do not want the masses to know about the party you went to last Friday- DO NOT write about it! You can never be too careful with your words- you never know what struggles your peers may be going through- always be cautious. THINK BEFORE YOU SPEAK/WRITE

14 It doesn’t matter how smart you are… If you aren’t respectful, responsible, and productive it really doesn’t matter to me.
