But what does Science mean? And what does Technology mean? Are they the same? Can you have one without the other?

Science is the study of why natural things happen the way they do!

Meteorology Chemistry Geology Astronomy Microbiology Biology Oceanography ZoologyPsychology Mr. Jorgensenology

Why natural things happen the way they do! Can you think of some natural things happening right now?

Technology is a process A step by step process Some times, it comes with a side effect not planned But most times, it only gives us the results we want That solves a problem for people

Technology is applying information to solve problems. The problems solved create the technology which will E-x-t-e-n-d human capabilities. B. What have others done already to solve a problem? Applying information is Using knowledge, both learned and researched C. What is the end result that the inventor is trying to accomplish? A. What is the cause of the problem? A think-tank or inventor has questions to guide the research

Not as hard as teaching a horse to skip rope

Our 5 Senses Our five senses are the sense of sight, smell, sound, taste and touch Our ability to think, create, imagine and move Human Capabilities are ? Stretching human capabilities is technology, and

sense of sight Just a few examples of technology which extend or stretch our sense of sight

Our... to humankind. smell Sense of smell

Our... to humankind. sound Sense of sound, which includes hearing and speaking

But now Let’s take a break And do a little math!

Here’s a simple addition problem which will stretch our sense of taste!

Now, let’s add a little pig to the picture…

Other examples of technology that relates to our sense of taste But remember, the food isn’t the technology. is the process It is the process of preparing, cooking, creating and preserving that is the technology. Here come a few examples…

Here come some examples The sense of touch has the most examples of technology. In this case, touch means to hold and control.

Can you think of others?

Touch = hold or control think of any tool found in an auto shop, wood shop, metal shop, around your house, in your desk…

Here are a few examples of technology which aid our memory or ability to think.

Some examples of technology which extend our ability to move on land

Here are some examples of technology which extends our ability to move through the air, water and space.

In review, Science is natural. Why natural things happen as they do Technology is something made by people to solve problems Solve problems which will stretch human capabilities See Ya!
